Giddha Melna Da started when a group of university students decided to take their passion for Giddha dance to the next level by coming together as a team. Their focus is on LIVE Giddha, rather than using recorded music. In just a few short years, this group has gained a mass following on social media, and their hard work led them to a first place finish at the World Folk Festival in 2023 in the Seniors Giddha category. Their dancer, Supreet also took home a Best Dancer Award at the festival.
The foundation of Punjabi folk dance is telling historical stories about celebration, way of life, affection, and culture. Giddha Melna Da are looking for new and innovative ways to make learning this beautiful art form fun and easy. The group believes in equality, teamwork, and supporting one another.
