Anita is an award-winning actor, playwright and classically trained Indian dancer who has performed all across the globe. While she’s best known for her touring solo play, The Fish Eyes Trilogy, she’s also a self-taught visual artist. With no arts supplies or access to a local arts store, Anita borrowed her mother’s makeup to create portraits as a teen and eventually moved into charcoals and pastels.

She put visual arts on hold while pursuing her performance career, but re-discovered her love for her illustration during the pandemic and now works in digital art. In addition to being an artist with Rogue Labs, a new NFT platform/agency based in California, Anita has also undertaken a number of collaborations with arts organizations including a co-commission with The Shakespeare Company and Hit n’ Myth called De:Colonizing Shakespeare’s Ladies: a reimagining of Shakespeare’s leading ladies through a South Asian lens.

Her work focuses on subverting Bollywood and other pop culture representations of South Asian women with surreal, fantastical elements.
