Angela’s narrative artwork is informed by her academic practice in feminist postcolonial theory and explores the complexities of history, memory, culture, and identity. She seeks to reanimate subjects relegated to the margins of Eurocentric history, with a focus on diasporic South Asian stories. Her work ranges from mixed media drawing to photo-based digital collage. Angela’s work has been exhibited widely including OCAD University and UC Berkeley. Her art has been featured in publications such as the Times of India (Delhi), Scroll Magazine (Delhi), Gal-Dem (UK), Canadian Woman Studies (Toronto), Living Hyphen (Toronto), and The Northern Appeal (Barrie). She is proud to have illustrated the recent Historica Canada video on the Komagata Maru released in May of this year.
